1. How has Best Buy prepared you in your career

My time at BB prepared me for this teller position teaching me how to handle money safely, how to treat our customers and to find out their needs to provide the products they are looking for.

2. What was enjoyable about working at Best Buy

I find that my current position at Best Buy is really rewarding because I get to be involved in the business aspects of the organization. I solely responsible for over 40 million dollars in inventory and because able to apply my skills and research ability to save the company money daily by finding and resolving potential losses. We just completed our physical inventory and had the best results in the entire market and being able to see that I was responsible for that is very rewarding for me.

3. What did you dislike about working at Best Buy

The thing that I dislike is the compensation that I am currently making. The amount of effort and passion that I put into the work I do, I know that I will be a very valuable asset to an organization and I am ready for a better career advancement with better compensation.

Pros

I find that my current position at Best Buy is really rewarding because I get to be involved in the business aspects of the organization. Job Duties

I am responsible for controlling and monitoring over 40 million dollars of inventory. I do this by completing daily cycle counts and reaching variances. Combing through customer orders and resolving issues that could lead to potential losses. Working closely with asset protection to identify trends on losses to prevent or eliminate possible threats.

Summary

Best Buy was a very good job while I went to college because they were flexible with my school schedule and had a benefit package that assisted me with financial aid for college. I am believe that I have out grown my growth potential and career interest with Best Buy, but I will not take for granted the skills, work ethics, and leadership skills that the organization has taught me.

I wanted to try working in a new environment, as I had nearly been there for a year.

Job Duties

I was responsible for greeting the guests, answering any questions about anything they were interested in purchasing, and lastly I was responsible for selling an extended service or membership. Moreover, I had to make sure the department always looked clean and presentable.

How did this career prepare you?

Best Buy and my retail job before that gave me a really good sense of social skills and customer service qualities. I feel like the energy one emits as an employee affects the customers experience the most.

I knew nothing about electronics, so I learned not to let myself down and to just keep working hard in order to get better at what I was required to do.

Advancement opportunities

Unfortunately, I was not offered any advancement opportunities, as long working employees were just promoted as seniors. However, at that job, when there long enough, there are several advancement opportunities.

Job Duties

A number of things... I started off selling computers at Bestbuy and getting customers what they needed by engaging them in conversation and asking relevant questions. I moved on to customer service where I maintained doing light selling, but mostly problem solving for customer issues related to deliveries, incorrect charges, SOP, etc. I was a temporary supervisor over about 10 people and was tasked with scheduling, assigning tasks, following up and making sure they were done, coaching people on mistakes and missed opportunities. I moved from there into inventory where I was tasked with shipping and receiving, merchandising and planograms.

I have learned a lot about working with Best Buy. I have learned how to work with big amount of cash and other method of payments. Also, to treat customers respectfully and to know their needs and try to meet them. I also learned to work with a team of people with different backgrounds and have a good relationship with them,

Cons

No opportunities to grow, and rotating shifts if you want to work full time.

My time at BB prepared me for this position as I have been learning to work with money, to offer our products, to have great Customer Service skills, and to be on task and also going the extra mile, in some cases.

I am currently leaving bestbuy because there is no room to grow. Bestbuy is more of a job not a career.

Job Duties

Everyday there was a task list that needed to be done in the morning before opening and a night after closing. one was to power and make sure all gadgets are fully functional. Make sure the register has the right amount of money. Then go on the floor and sell. Build customer relationships.

While at best buy I did both customer service and cash handling. I did lots of problem solving and lots of cash counting.

The most rewarding thing about Best Buy was the employee incentives for reaching monthly goals as well as quarterly goals. Also interacting with different customers to help them find their best possible technological solutions.

The last position I held was Apple specialist where my primary duty was to utilize my skills in Apple products and help customers with any questions or concerns they had. I also to coach a team of 15 employees to help them also better understand their product knowledge on Apple products.

How did this career prepare you?

It helped me because I could to deal with Customers everyday in high volume traffic. My goal was to assist any customers who was looking to buying to a new computer that fits there needs. Having this job requires to have strong customer service skills! I was also often called on to help with customer service issues to provide solutions. This job also required to have team work, as our goal was to hit revenue on a daily basis.

The fact that I get to help people on a daily basis is very rewarding for me. I have my customers tell me all the time that they enjoyed my service, and they will be sure to return, and ask for me.

Cons

I can honestly say that there is nothing I do not like about my job. I love every aspect of it. Best Buy is a great company to work for.

My main job duty at Best Buy Mobile is giving our customers the best customer service they can possibly receive while helping them find the perfect mobile solution. Other duties include downstocking/upstocking products, maintaining a cash drawer, counting the register and safe at the end of the night, sending/receiving packages, managing and motivating my team, and completing daily managerial tasks.

Lack of opportunity within the company and the lack of growth that the company is seeing.

Summary

Very good place to start my career and have learned a lot about the retail industry, consumer electronics, buying patterns, inventory mgmt, and interacting with cross funtional teams.
