General Motors Employee Reviews

Why did you leave General Motors?

Just like what they always say. Love your job and you will never work for the rest of your life. I have worked for different industries, different places but my heart tells me to work here. I learned alot from people, I see co-workers as my family, there's a lot of potential growth and careers opportunities here and at the end of the day there's a feeling of fulfillment after a long day at work because everyday there is progress. I left for the reason that I wanted to work for a place where I truly enjoy and I have enough job experience to be able to move up eventually with the company.

1. How has General Motors prepared you in your career

I learned how to be flexible and fast learner. Be able to deal with different people at different life situations. There may be good days and bad days but we make sure as employess we work as a team. One example I learned is we would have customers that would be very frustrated specifically if they want a specific item and the store does not have it. I learned to be more sensitive and sympathetic with other people's feelings, I learned to be able to multitask espefically when the store is busy and my service is needed from one department to the other. Also most importantly, I learned the value of teamwork, because Walmart will not be Walmart if not because of it's employees.

Rate your managers

Excellent. My former supervisor Ms. Lupe Gonzales is an excellent superior and a mentor. She taught me alot of things at Walmart, given me a chance to gain more knowledge by making me to work in different areas of the store, really cares about her employees and her leadership as a whole is not questionable. She serves as my inspiration to move up to walmart.

Advancement opportunities

Yes, I declined because I had to quit Walmart because I gave birth with my first child and I promised my husband that the first year of the baby I will personally take care of her and I believe it does good for the growth and development of a child. I was asked by my supervisor at my first walmart job if I wanted to move up to DM position but I stated I will quit a month before I give birth as I need to attend to my baby first which he understood.
