1. How has H&M prepared you in your career

H&M was my first job working in retail so I learned the proper way to tend to the guests, more customer service skills and had more opportunity to work as a team.

Making a guest happy by helping them find the right outfit was always the best part of the day.

Cons

Not a warm environment.

Why you left

I was seasonal at h&m and because another h&m store was closing down all the employees had to transfer to our store so we didn't have any space.

Pros

Making a guest happy by helping them find the right outfit was always the best part of the day.

H&M was my first job working in retail so I learned the proper way to tend to the guests, more customer service skills and had more opportunity to work as a team.

Rate your managers

My managers and I were very respectful towards each other. I understood that they were in charge and we had a mutual understanding that we were both human beings and human beings can make a mistake, it's just important to make sure you don't repeat those past mistakes.

Suggestions for the CEO

The clearance rack was always a disaster and I suggested when the sales associates are running and cleaning, we should include the sales rack because that's what a lot of guests are looking for.

Pros

I found making guests smile to be the most rewarding thing. Shopping can be stressful for some, and being able to help them find a garment to complete their outfit always made me happy.

Why you left

H&M was a seasonal position where I learned so much about teamwork, retail, and customer service. However, once the holiday season was over, I had to leave because it was just temporary.

How did this career prepare you?

H&M was my first retail job that allowed me to know the guests in a more personal way than at previous food service jobs. Guests tend to be more open and honest in retail, which allowed me to want to give every guest the best customer service I could provide. This knew knowledge will be carried over to DSW.

The managers at H&M were all close with the sales advisors. They got to know everyone on a personal level in order to treat them with the utmost respect. Sales Advisors often looked at the managers as friends, but we all knew when it was time to work and when it was time to play.

Suggestions for the CEO

Working with a team on a big task can often be challenging, especially around the holidays. Once, we had to shift the entire store around and rearrange where all the clothes go. Our sales rack was being moved but it was such a mess, I suggested we organized the sales rack and clean quick before we made any drastic moves to make it easier on ourselves.

The interaction between the customers and I. I enjoy talking to them and helping create an ensemble that they leave satisfied with.

Job Duties

Maintaining the store clean, greeting and guiding the customers. Reassuring them that I am there to help, and making sure there over all experience is great.

Summary

It was a great experience, every job I have had I always learned something new about customer service and about myself.

Cons

The slow days, even though there is always something to do in the store sometimes you run out of projects. I honestly love the busy fast pace days where it seems like time is just moving faster than you are.

Job Duties

Restocking tables and fixtures, operating the cash register, maintaining the fitting room, answering the telephone, assisting customers with questions and needs, unloading and processing incoming shipment, and training new associates.

How did this career prepare you?

It prepared me to be patient, really listen to what people want instead of assuming that you know what they want. It also has given me a glimpse into how busy it can get in a short amount of time, and also that change is necessary to get things done.

Beacuse of family relocation

Job Duties

I was on charge of ladies department. My duties were; dealing with customer enquires, processing transactions at the cash desk, also I was providing a customer service in the fitting room and the floor. In addition of that I was placing a stock from delivery, and many time I merchandiser the new stock according to the department book.

How did this career prepare you?

I had received an extensive training both in customer service as commerciality.

Suggestions for the CEO

I organized garment in the fitting room according to styles in order to clear the rails faster. I used to rotate the stock, filling the gap in empty shelves.

Advancement opportunities

Yes, I was ask to be a team leader. I did not take it because of my personal circumstances.

Sometimes it tends to be a little bit unorganised ... Tasks were clearly allocated but some people just did not follow the instructions and it was easily getting chaotic. They also changed shifts a lot.
