Pros

Ensuring every customer that came through our doors left feeling happy and satisfied with the customer service and quality of the products we provided. This was achieved by overseeing product and customer service operations and coaching crew when necessary.

Cons

The one thing I disliked was the inability despite projections to predict the influx of customers at any one time, however, despite this, I enjoyed the challenge of ensuring customers were served in a timely and friendly manner and recieved quality products that they could walk out being happy with.

Job Duties

My job as a shift supervisor involved pre-shift and post-shift duties as well as managing shifts to achieve the goal of QSC&V which stands for quality, sales, cleanliness and value. Pre-shift duties involved listing inventory, checking rotation of products and ensuring enough stock for anticipated demand. During the shifts I would allocate and schedule each employees role, informing them of their duties to be completed, following up and ensuring good customer service and quality was met. I also ensured product was stocked up and of a quality standard. Post-shift duties included counting waste, counting drawers and ensuring the amount of money in the safe and drawers was accurate.

Summary

It was a positive experience, it provided me with a great learning environment that was challenging and fast-paced. It gave me the opportunity to gain a certificate three in retail operations but ultimately I want to pursue a career in marketing.
