WORK ENVIRONMENT

hierarchical, cut-throat, disorganized, political, unprofessional

Working at Astro Waste:

WORK ENVIRONMENT unprofessional, unorganized and communist-style leadership.

COMMENTS: Pay-Straight commission. Company's practices make it very difficult to earn commissions. Reimbursement takes up to a month, IF controller decides to go to work and approves your reimbursement. Little to no training then trainer goes M.I.A. so little support after 1 week's training.
I learned it's a family business and nepotism is obvious although only to one daughter, ironically- the crazy one. President doesn't seem to know what controller does (incompetent daughter with mental issues).
Benefits are not offered until 1 year and even then, she explained nationally recognized holidays as a "benefit" to have paid time off.

Job security: A joke! Frequent threats and poor management

The President and controller are paranoid and the whole business philosophy and therefore training and M.O. is based in the belief that all people are liars and so, you must be a craftier liar (through evasion, deception and outright lying) to be successful.

Respect- Uh, where do I begin? Management seems unable to convey a thought without the most foul of expletives, belittles employees in front of other staff, has absolutely NO interest in hearing ideas, input of feedback from employees (in fact, attempting such seems to be a main reason for dismissal). Controller is never wrong. so pointing out an obvious error will get your fired. President uses foul language but any employee using even the tamest of foul language is provided a disciplinary warning threatening dismissal.

Work/Life Balance- Plan on working 6 days a week to "impress" boss (controller) even though she won't show-up at the office until mid-day if at all that day due to her "depression" issues.

Career Potential/Growth-Seems they have about a 99% attrition rate. To make it through the probationary period of 90 days a major career accomplishment.

Location is good, if you enjoy working from home or in the field with little supervision, other than calls/emails/reports.

Coworker competence-Staff is very cordial, much like children in an abusive home environment. My negative rating is based on senior management, which is unprofessional in the extreme.

Work environment- Again, negative, fearful, unsupportive, and unprofessional. If you enjoy being cussed out, hung up on, belittled and stressed to the point of a breakdown, this may be the job for you.
Also, building is falling apart due to a number of flooding instances where walls were never dried out correctly hence the mold everywhere and prepare to develop sinus issues or allergies if you stay in the building.

My comments are based not only on my own experience, but on what I observed in virtually every interaction around me. A fellow co-worker, was reduced to tears describing the level of stress to me. Another co-worker called me and said she couldn't handle another negative comment made publicly on their internal computer software program for all to see their "YOU FAILED" comments by the controlling controller.

There are 2 people out of MANY who have survived and are still working there. So, apparently it's a job for someone if you enjoy them controlling you so much that they want you on-call 24/7 and even try to control who you communicate with in your personal life.

In closing I would like to add that prior to accepting this position, I have worked as a sales representative to dozens of companies of all sizes, revenues and in myriad industries for over a decade. I have NEVER seen anything as professionally appalling in all those years or in years of corporate sales prior.
