I worked for this company nearly 4 years in the transportation Dept. Management has very little respect for there employees ideas or suggestions. No paid benefits except PTO and Vacation which is minimal. Sure it's hard to get fired from this company, because it's hard to find anyone who will stay. They could care less about your personal life so if you have kids or visitation you'll have problems getting time off to spend with them if you plan something. No potential for growth as this company is run by the good ol boys. The work environment is toxic in more than 1 area. The air is filled with fiberglass resin fumes, there have been many an altercation where a knife has been pulled and believe it or not I saw this happen twice and both times no one was fired. most of their equipment is homemade or worn out and needs constant repair. Most of the trucks used while I was there broke down constantly or did not meet DOT standards but they where still run daily. Transportation manager acquires oversize permits illegally/reuses them illegally. Most route surveys are done by a general laborer that has no Idea what he is doing or is to lazy to put up the highpole. It is quite common to get stuck in a state waiting 4 a new permit because belco routed you wrong or route survey was not done correctly. I filed a written grievance with this company, it took them 3 weeks to respond and when they arranged the meeting to respond and discuss it they refused to allow me to have an impartial witness. When I reported them to Louisiana state police for running a trailer with no brakes I was called into the Company managers office with 4 other supervisors and yelled at for 15 min. telling me I am not to call anyone about their equipment (Illegal both by DOT and Employment laws). Finally after refusing to take a load for a week because the trailer it was on had no brakes, they fired me for an incident that occurred due to their faulty equipment, had happened 9 days earlier and caused no major damage. Reporting them to their parent company got me no where either, in fact the funniest part of this whole escapade is they fired me the day before the corporate human resources dept. supervisor was to visit.
Well thanks for reading my rant and hope this helps inform those considering employment with this company.
$8.50/Hour $13.00/hour end. 1 week vacation after first year, 2 weeks years 2 through 5 and 3 weeks after that. Profit sharing checks where a joke and pretty much no other perks unless you consider eating, drinking and working a perk.
