Working at Best Buy:

I'm fairly young and helping manager what I consider to be a large business so the experience is fantastic. The downside is that expectations are astronomically high - I'm frantically checking sales every hour.

Best Buy Salary and Benefits:

Every store is different - salary and bonus in the high 60s.

Working at Best Buy:

Geek Squad a great place to start if you're looking to gain IT experience. The people I worked with always cool and fun to be around. I wouldn't really say there are opportunities to move up because they aren't present. Enjoy your experience, learn, and then move on.

Best Buy Salary and Benefits:

$12 per hour but this isn't exactly the same for everyone. The employee discount use to be awesome but sadly it's been changed.

Working at Best Buy:

I've worked for bestbuy for just shy of a year, and gone from being a cashier to the number two associate in the store selling magnolia high end TVs and audio. The demands here are high, everything from financing to the insurance plans (which aren't worth your money) are shoved at you aggressively. I make about $115000 a month for bestbuy, yet I am part time and make $8 an hour. The discount was the one thing that showed bby cared about employees, but now it's worthless. There are no rewards here for the incredible amount they ask of associates. Yes I'm 20, but I have a very dedicated work ethic, I spent hours going over products and purchasing CDs with my own money for use demoing high end audio. For what you get as an employee, and the way managers treat you, work somewhere, anywhere else

Best Buy Salary and Benefits:

8 to start, still 8. No bonuses no time off no benefits no discount anymore, don't work for these crooks.

Working at Best Buy:

The culture does have a bit of fun and silliness in it but honestly hitting sales numbers is extremely critical, it really starts to wear on you.

Best Buy Salary and Benefits:

The best buy employee discount use to be really good but its not anymore. It used to be cost plus 5% which means you could get that 50.00 cable for $5 but now you are capped at up to 50% off. You now gotta pay $25 for the dumb cable.

Hourly pay is close to $17 per hour.

Working at Best Buy:

Best Buy was a great company to work for at the beginning, however after a few months its been the worst. It's a great place to work when people are calm and friendly. lately managment is pushing too hard on sales and is making many people leave the company. Now the discount even sucks. Great place to work for a while but no future.

Best Buy Salary and Benefits:

Started at 9 and now unto 10 after a year and half. Honestly not worth it.

Working at Best Buy:

Started out as temp for seasonal, stayed on for a permanent position. Definitely a great company to start with; they will help you grow. There is pressure to help the store succeed and reach their daily goals, or else labor will get cut. No worries though, your managers should give you the tools to succeed. I've made tons of friends while working here, and you'll get to know who the regulars are.

Only Salaried workers at our store are certain managers, and the Gen. Manager. Great job to tide you over during rough patches; Not planning to stay here long, hoping to move on soon.

Pros: Very team oriented, helpful when you're in need.

Cons: Pay can be low (I feel mine is, personally), hours can be a little bit longer than expected sometimes.

Best Buy Salary and Benefits:

Started out at 8.50 per/hour, still at 8.50. Lots of opportunity for unpaid leave, but no vacation time for part timers.

Working at Best Buy:

I haven't been here long but it's good company. Compared to other electronic retailers best buy is doing fine. I can't really think of anything that really bothers me that's not unusual for retail. I'm also one of the few full time workers so I get paid a little bit more.

Best Buy Salary and Benefits:

10.50 an hour to start with raises in the future. The discount is cost plus 5 percent.

You have to start at the bottom but there are good growth opportunities if you do well, work hard, and are trustworthy. I haven't been here to long but I like it so far. They are a little heavy on the rules but other than that it's bad. I came in with some work experience at $9.61 per hour.

Working at Best Buy:

Best Buy is a decent place to work. There are always supervisory positions opening up throughout the store and if you are a recognized hard worker you have a chance for promotion. Sales numbers are monitored very closely and you are expected to aggressively push sales and hit certain targets. The benefits are pretty good at Best Buy. Along with the normal range of health benefits you get an employee discount and employee stock purchase plan.
