WORK ENVIRONMENT

fast-paced, high-pressure, unprofessional

Working at Blockbuster Video:

Hours worked are extremely long. Open to close often meant a 15 hour work day. Bookwork is repetitive and takes up too much valuable time. This company is not into saving trees. The work load is so huge a person could work open to close every day and not catch up. The company expects its workers to spend their own gas money to go from store to store for supplies. Wear and tear on the vehicle is awful. I put over 20000 miles on my car the year and a half I worked there. The team I worked with as far as management is concerned was unprofessional and didn't care about their appearance. I felt degraded wearing their uniform. I hated hated hated my job there.

Blockbuster Salary Salary and Benefits:

Salary was good, vacation was a week and a half after one year. Bonus was available to good performing stores. Tuition reimbursement was discontinued due to economical reasons while I worked there. Free rentals was a good perk, but there was little time to enjoy the perk. Open holidays was awful, no balance between work and homelife.
