I enjoyed my experience at Cracker Barrel because of the people; both customers and coworkers. This was a second job (I'm a teacher) for me and they were quite flexible with me. There is a high turnover on managers for the restaurant side, but the retail manager was there for several years. After I'd been there close to a year, they really cut my hours down until it wasn't worth it anymore. All of us cried on my last day because the ladies I worked with on the retail side were great and most of the servers and kitchen people were super nice also. Overall, a great experience and a fun second job. I don't know how people afford to work there full time though.
20% discount once you get your first star until you get your 4th star. At that point, the discount becomes 35% (I think). I was there when minimum wage was changing, so I probably got screwed a little on pay. However, I do know when I left, I was making around $7.50 with 3 stars. Your 4th star comes around 13 months after an evaluation. Also, at Christmas they gave me a gift certificate of around $20.

I was hired, then had to wait a week to find out my training days. The managers did not care if the people they just hired knew the job or not! I was scheduled three days to train, which where cut short on training hours, and was told that if I did do my job right I would be written up on my third day of training. Place has eight different managers that have no idea what is going on (Gee big surprise)! It was not a great impression for a first time employee starting, and I really wont be back. I would like to have a job where I can work, and I can be trained to do the job that I am hired for. Don't waist your time, look else where for a job.
