COMMENTS

DFW Airport overall is an excellent place to work as far as benefits and pay are concerned. The Airport pays 90% of employee health care cost and gives a generous amount of vacation accrual, as well as sick leave. The retirement is 100% employer sponsored and is good when taking into consideration the employee pays nothing into the pension plan. My real complaint with working at DFW Airport is the fact that the Human Resources Department is lacking in compassion toward the current employee's when promoting within. Don't get me wrong there are some of the nicest and most professional people who work in HR and do favor current qualified employee's during the hiring process but unfortunately not enough and it is run poorly by management.

Over the last several years I have applied for 20+ positions, that the majority of which I am qualified for and then some, and I never receive a call, email, or letter informing me I am not qualified or that a more qualified individual has been selected. I am not alone in sharing this sentiment either. The department I work in which consist of around 120 people are getting fed up with never being considered for jobs and being treated like imbecile's. I, as well as many others get excellent reviews and have no disciplinary actions against us, so there is just no rhyme or reason. Its truly a shame when there are good, hard workers who are loyal to their company and trying to climb and DFW's Human Resources Department completely ignores these employees.

I would recommend DFW as a good place to work for only a small group of individuals, such as a person who has retired from a previous company and is looking for another retirement and are happy to stay in position for a few years. Or an individual going to school. However these individuals going to school do not expect to promote at DFW so use the tuition reimbursement the airport provides and move on to companies who try and promote within.
