You're going to work really hard at Dell and be expected to produce strong numbers in most roles. Dell is a very metrics driven company. They spend little time brand building and focus more on moving "boxes". This is slowly changing but so many people here have been here for ages (nobody ever leaves this company) and simply can't get out of the old mindset.
Pay is competitive for the Austin area and time off is generous. The cafeteria food is way overpriced and not subsidized at all which is a downer

Pros: Pay and benefits are competitive. Most of the people here I work with are great. Unlike other large companies Dell is open to having it's associates move into different business functions.
Cons: The company is very "siloed". Trying to get things done is a painful process. Don't expect to move the needle with anything you might do.
Work life balance really does depend on the role. I've been in roles with zero work life and others that were much more balanced. It really just depends on the team and role.

Pros: High earning potential
Lot's of career opportunity
Cons: Swim or sink when it comes to sales, but if you work hard you should be fine. Those who fail usually start to slack.
The job is base plus commission and spiffs (bonuses). It really is a wide range based on how you perform. Revenue generation is the main metric but there are others. You can earn anywhere from 40-70k. I think most are around 50k.

What I love most Dell is the opportunity to work in different areas of the business. If you are a high performer you can move up very fast. Things tend to be more merit based then other companies I've worked for. They expect a lot out of you so if you can deal with high expectations you'll do well.
Benefits are average but pay is high.

Pros: Diverse workforce, lots of cool people, pay is good, and it’s in Austin.
Cons: The culture of Dell is very bland. It’s a sea of cubicles in a very large company. I would say Dell has no personality. The startup feel and energy is long gone….
