WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working at Disney:

There are a few things that Disney does very well...specifically putting out a high quality product. That aside, career advancement is more than hard to come by. Disney tries it's best to make use of extended "contractors".

Disney Salary and Benefits:

Low 60s.

Working at Disney :

I love Disney, so I thought I would try for a job at the Disney Store in SF. I was told it would be a long process because they have to go through a background check and all that and it was. Took about 2 months for me to officially get a job. I paid for public transportation to get into San Francisco because I did not want to pay gas, bridge tolls, and parking fees. I should have known on the first day of training that it wasn't going to work, I was told to come on the wrong day. I come in and the manager who told me to come that day tried to tell me it was the next day. I told her no, I was told to come on Monday and she said "oh yeah, sorry about that." So I wasted almost 10 bucks getting there just to go right home. I thought being in SF it would be busy, but I was wrong. It's dead except on weekends. Been pretty busy with Christmas coming up but not as busy as I thought it would be. It's usually 'call in' shifts which are silly because you can't plan ahead for ANYTHING. It's always 4 hour shifts 90% of the time which is why I'm looking for another job. It's a waste to pay almost $10 to get to my job for 4 hours of work. No visible tattoos, piercings other than 1 in each ear, no nail polish, and they want you to push products down "the guests" throats which is not my style. I personally do not like going into a store and having that done to me. When it's dead during the day, time just drags. The assistant leads want more in sales but there's ummm.. like no one in the store. Definitely not what I thought it would be. I wouldn't reccomend it.

Disney Salary and Benefits:

Started me at $10.25 which is okay for San Francisco I guess. But having to pay to get to the city didn't make it worth it with hardly any hours.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

team-oriented, entrepreneurial, fast-paced

Working at Disney:

As far as Entertainment companies goes, this is one of the best ones if you have a real yearning for professional growth. In my department, the pace is fast and the work is diversified as it touches finance and legal. Literally, there is no excuse to come out as a better professional than when you entered b/c of the company's "Disney University." It is basically a learning center that offers writing/speech presentation workshops, computer classes, management training, etc.

In addition, Disney strongly supports continued education. The educational reimbursement plan pays $700 per credit/unit for tuition & 100% for books if the schooling is related to current job functions.

401K - 50% matching after first year of service. Earliest entry into the program is 90 days.

Cons - High, high volume of work. Don't expect to sleep on the job here!

Disney Salary and Benefits:

Salary - Well compensated...will give you the max, but you have to work it. Vacation-Accrue 2 weeks during first year of service.
