Co-worker competence – 80% of the employees are friends and family members who have no prior industry experience. They have all developed some very bad habits when it comes to doing their jobs and running a company. Every couple of days there is a crisis and everyone pulls together to resolve it, then the following week the same crisis happens again. They have no interest in long-term problem resolution. These people are just marking time because no matter how badly they screw up they will not be fired. Periodically when things get really bad management is shuffled around, but nothing changes, except your workload increases.
Work environment – it’s a zoo. Desks are packed in with no space between them, you may as well be sitting in your coworkers lap, no privacy, and certain employees spend more time checking up on other people then doing their own job. Office is full people sharing daily dramas from their personal lives, no way to avoid it.
Work/life balance – There is none. You will be on call 24/7 with no help from the 80% who are friends and family member of the owner.
HR – not to be trusted, it’s just a friend of the owner who does this as part of her regular duties. Anything you say to her will get back to management verbatim.
medical is the bare minimum, you won’t be around long enough to become vested in the 401k, you have to pay $20 a month for a company issued cell phone, you get 12 paid days off a year and are only allowed to use 6 of them every six months. Pay is the bare minimum compared to the amount of work you do, whatever they offer you add $10,000.00 to that number.
