Took awhile for me to realize that the only staff that stayed was staff that was ok with letting our department head grope them. If you are not a gay male, you will not fit in. Like I said, it took awhile. I'm straight & couldn't figure out what I was doing that was so wrong. I worked extra hours, I tried everything. When my boss asked me out & I declined it was the beginning of the end. I filed a complaint with human resources who flat out told me he has a known history of other people complaining, but there has never been anything done to stop him.
When human resources approached him with my complaint, I was let go shortly after. Had trouble finding work at all; they would call there & he would tell them I was incompetent. I know because eventually one of my interviewers shared this with me.
Worked 12 hour days, weekends, at home. Bonuses never arrive.

Equity Residential is one of the better property management/apartment operators to work for. They keep up the properties very well and make sure the residents are taken care. You’ll feel proud to leasing out such well kept properties.
Working in property management though is not easy. You are always going to have deal with a wide range of problems and personalities. The hours are bad and you will have to move around a lot. You are also responsible for keeping costs down and the property full. Good luck.
The benefit package at Equity Residential is better than similar companies.
