Cut-throat, competitive, team-oriented, disorganized, political, unprofessional,
The company is not professionally managed. There are written policies and guidelines, but these are routinely ignored or violated to suite a client's wishes. The pay range is anywhere from $9.50 U.S. to $13.75 U.S. per hour. There are five categories of security officers from Traditonal Security Officer to Critical Facility Officer. The average work week is 32 hours (40 is possible, but not guaranteed). The only way to earn sufficient income is to work overtime or double shifts. Overtime is discouraged because the client(s) will not fund it. Raises are infrequent and not guaranteed. Some posts have gone 3 to 4 years without raises. Benefits are offered, but are the minimum necessary; and only offered so they can say they offer them. Family coverage for healthcare can run almost $700.00 U.S. per month. Many officers have to insure their children through a state medicaid program. There is no sick leave. Client policy dictates sick leave if there is any available. Time off for illness is discouraged. Holiday pay usually means that you WORK that holiday and then get paid for it. Time off may be difficult to get; it must be requested 30 days in advance and approved by a supervisor. Snitching and informing on fellow officers to superiors to recieve favors is a common occurrence. The training provided by the company is no more than 35 hours (one week) at minimum wage. However, there are online courses that one can complete on post if a computer is present with internet access, or unpaid on your own time if computer access is not available on post. There is no seniority when applying for open positions within the company. Capable officers who have been with the company for years will be passed over in favor of newhires when positions are filled. Also the turnover rate horrendously high. Some officers quit or get fired within a week. Perhaps the only pro is that one would not be unemployed, but not for very long. G4S Secure Solutions USA, Inc. is neither family friendly nor employee friendly.
My pay was $13.00 U.S. per hour. Sick leave and vacation time are determined by client policy if one is a billable employee. Time off for illness is strongly discouraged. Many officers will come to work sick.
Cut-throat, disorganized, unprofessional,
Once I find another job I am gone. The Operations Manager in Colorado Springs is extremely incompetent. He continually fouls up schedules, paychecks and training. He has been banned from visiting several client's facilities because of his constant screw ups. He promotes his butt-smackers while hard working professionals get left behind. He allows a subordinate to live with her supervisor! Talk about a conflict of interest. He had an unprofessional "relationship" with one of his female officers and put her in a supervisory position ahead of at least two more qualified people. The officers look like slobs and are poorly trained. Management has no QA enforcement. Supervisors don't "supervise". They just don't care about doing a good job, because there is no job satisfaction. They don't get recognized for good work, but have somebody make a complaint because an officer was "doing his duty" and the officer is history. Flex officers are abused. Some are forced to work as much as 80-90 hours a week. Many times they are forced to go from one site to another without sleep. Sometimes working as much as 20 hours in a 24 hour period.
$14.00 an hour and no idea when a raise will come. No bonus opportunity. Reimbursement of expenses is painfully slow. G4S only pays "one way" mileage. Continual screw ups with paychecks makes paying bills on time extremely difficult.
Cut-throat, disorganized, unprofessional,
Been with the company for 3 or so years with only one pay increase. And I'm not talking a huge increase, try .13. Never missed a day. The management is as worthless as it gets. You go to contact them for any reason and they never respond. All they care about is money. The employees are nothing to them. The clients don't mean a damn thing unless they are providing contracts with tons of cash. Don't not work for this company unless you have no choice. Potential clients, I recommend any security company other than G4S. They will play you. They will put on a good show but they will screw you or their contracted employees at your site. I guarantee it.
Pros: a good place to die young
Cons: pay, benefits, having no life..........
