Worked there for three years, had excellent performance and attendance. They fired me because I was stiring shit up with management about OT being offered to some employee's and not to everyone. Only positive thing WAS the benefits, until they cut them lower and jacked up the premium's. The manager's are all in bed together, they don't care about the reg. employee's on the floor who make up the majority of their work force
Salary was mediocre, $10 an hour for collections

GE is definitely a place where you only get back what you put into it. No, that doesn't mean long hours, it means being smart about what you do and if it's adding value to the bottom line.
I have 3 children and leave at 5 PM every day, with very few exceptions. If I need to get something done urgently, I can work from home.
I agree with other posters that GE is very political, but that's how any Fortune 100 company will be. If you don't want that, work for a smaller company.
I've been at GE for 8 years, >$125K, with 3 weeks vacation.

All the risk when econ slumps not much reward when times are good.

A resume builder and one of the top places to launch a career. Expect to work very long hours as it is part of the culture. The bureaucracy can be difficult to manage.
I think the pay is average. Nothing spectacular considering the hours. $108,000.
