H-E-B is very team oriented company that takes good care of its employees. If you are a high school or college student this company is especially beneficial. The general outlook on education is highly regarded thus making work schedules very pliable. In college towns such as Austin, this flexibilty is even more so as many of the employees are students at The University of Texas. Due to the nature of the large company, finding someone to take your shift in case something suddenly comes up, is more likely to happen since there are so many employees. Opportunity to climb the ladder of leadership and management in the company is also great. As long as you are a hard worker, punctual, and courteous to the customers and fellow employees, your superiors will gladly promote you rather than keeping you stagnant. H-E-B offers scholarships for students as well. During Christmas, expect a bonus. That goes for all departments and positions from the lowest on the totem pole to the very top. Also you receive a free turkey during Thanksgiving. The size is your choice and its FREE FREE FREE! That may sound silly but trust me a free turkey is better than it sounds. The only downside is that it's customer service and that's never good. What can you do about that? Customers can be horrible people sometimes...that's life. Another downside is that your hours and work days fluctuate weekly. It's hard to plan ahead because you don't know your schedule until the end of the week. Overall, it's a great social network and good company to work for.
