I sort of enjoyed working for this company. I told them a million times that I wanted to make working for Hot Topic a career. I think I was on repeat. But after being skipped for promotion so many times and only working 5 to 15 hours a week, I had enough.
Pros:
Concert reimbursement on a certain amount.
You have the freedom to be you. To express yourself through music, art, and fashion.
It's like have an extended family and most of the time better. Course if your lucky you'll have awesome co-workers.
Skully's are given to workers who help prevent theft. If you receive a certain amount you are awarded a $50 gift card.
Cons:
If you plan on having a career in retail look for something else.
There is no room for growth.
The pay sucks.
In 2010 we did not get a raise because the company spent way too much money.
Customers no matter where you go are jerks but it seems to be worse at Hot Topic.
Annoying teenagers.
People who smell god awful.
Cutting hours occurs.
People who need to be fired are kept on for being friends with management.
Sales Associates have no benefits, they receive hardly anything when they run store contest.
Pay is min wage and with the hours you get its hardly anything.
If you bust your butt you might get lucky on being promoted.
