I won't say that my experience is true for all groups at Monster, but the group that I was hired into was highly unorganized and unprofessional right from the start. I was hired right around holiday season so it was somewhat expected for things to be hectic. But one should never be expected to "find things to do" for an entire 4 weeks without even having a baseline knowledge of his/her role. So after I scanned corporate docs, studied websites and did any thing I could possibly think my job might entail, the new year began. Now at this point I did get minimal training....however, Monster is a large company and vague explanations are hard to grasp onto when there are thousands of people and one would have no idea of who to go to for direction. Fast forward 2 months. I was told more was expected out of me. Funny, I still have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing on a daily basis so please explain what is expected. At this point my boss told me he needed me to give him direction on what I needed help with. I understand many companies want employees to have a drive to succeed on thier own...but Monster didnt even give me the knowledge to decide if I wanted to succeed there.
Now onto another gripe. And this one is the one that made me ultimately decide I wanted to leave. The management in this particular group is like an old boys club. Constantly schmoozing eachother and laughing at thier own (unfunny) jokes. The executive manager that was above me in particular was extremely condesending when I didn't laugh at his jokes ("my jokes are over you're head, aren't they") and became condesending in every interation. I believe that employees need to look up to executive management. And this management team made me want to quit.
