I worked with this company for a long time and I never got a raise or any benefits, yet I was doing just about every ASM's job. I covered the front-end, trained cashiers made sure things were basically running the right way. I will admit I had some great managers but none of the ASM's I encountered knew what they were doing. You had to 'know someone' in order to get anywhere. I would not recommend working there to anyone. Talk about a thankless place to work in addition to putting up with all sorts of crap.
Where to start with Office Depot I don't know because it's such a bad place to work.
The company looks down on those in the store. This is how they are. Forget about trying to get promoted to store manager. You have to kiss serious upper management butt to get there. There is not a merit system in place for promotions. They are also unreasonably strict with their employees about every little thing! Office Depot is very quick to fire. If you ever complain about something you will be terminated. The salary is competitive so maybe they think that employees should just deal with being treated like crap. Overall….avoid working here at all cost!!
