WORK ENVIRONMENT

strict, cut-throat, old-fashioned, disorganized, high-pressure, bureaucratic, unprofessional

Working at Pilot Freight Services/DBA Prestige Group:

Company's practices make it very difficult to earn commissions as this office is a franchise and they set their own margins on pricing. I landed a very large account that would take me over my target and earn commission, however, I was told by the owner that the margins were too low and he was not going to pay me any commission on this 800k account.

Respect- Uh, where do I begin? Management seems unable to convey a thought without the most foul of expletives, belittles employees in front of other staff, has absolutely NO interest in hearing ideas, input of feedback from employees (in fact, attempting such seems to be a main reason for dismissal).

Work/Life Balance- Plan on waking up at 5am to begin driving to 8:00am appointments. Owner wanted 5 to 8 solid sales calls a day. If you did not have this amount on your call sheet, you were questioned and pressured on why. Plan on doing various paperwork until 8 or 9 pm as they did not want you in the office except for Mondays making cold calls for you week. There was not enough time to do your expense report or update your CRM.

Career Potential/Growth-Seems they have about a 99% attrition rate. To make over a year with this company is is a major career accomplishment.

I was told that I could work from home when hired. Their idea of working from home is from 5:30pm to 9:00pm doing paperwork!

Coworker competence-Staff is very cordial, much like children in an abusive home environment. My negative rating is based on senior management, which is unprofessional in the extreme.

Work environment- Again, negative, fearful, unsupportive, and unprofessional. If you enjoy being cussed out, belittled and stressed to the point of a breakdown, this may be the job for you.

My comments are based not only on my own experience, but on what I observed in virtually every interaction around me. One Account Executive was "let go" for no apparent reason. He was making his revenue goals and had been at Pilot Freight Services just over a year. He was told is was because he was not building a relationship with operations. The management expected you to bring in food every other week for all the operations staff which consisted of about 15 people. This was expected by sales. I did this a number of times as I was directed. I was told that I could not expense any of this and I had to pay for it out of my pocket. I continued to do this as instructed by my manager in fear of being "let go" like the previous Account Executive.

I had hurt my foot while I was employed with Pilot Freight Services and under doctor's orders I could return back to work 3 days after I had hurt it. My manager would not let me come back until the next week, as he stated that I was not 100%. I was told that I would not be paid for that entire week. I asked if I could work from home. I was told no.

In closing I would like to add that prior to accepting this position, I have worked as a Sales Manager for 2 major airlines. One I was with for ten years, the other I was at just under a year and went to Pilot Freight Services because of more money. I have NEVER seen anything as professionally appalling in all those years or in years of corporate sales prior.

Pilot Freight Services Dba Prestige Group Salary and Benefits:

I started at 50K plus commission after reaching 75K in revenue each month. The health insurance that was offered had a VERY high deductible. Most of the employees at the company never met it.
