Pros:
The biggest thing about working stock is you don't have to deal with customers. That’s nice because customers in general don't treat retail people like they are a high valued part of society and it shows. You do have to drop stuff off at the back end door for customers which is not too bad because you just drop the item off and all they say is like ok thanks. The managers I worked with where nice and so was "some" of the co workers.
Cons:
There is two jobs at pottery barn stock and floor. Both jobs are totally different. When you work stock you carry a walkie talkie and while you open millions of boxes and put stuff away which is hard because there is a million different halls and shelves, they often call you in and say hey I need a stock check in something, then you run around like a chicken with your head cut off in a really big store warehouse to find it. If you get to work mourning’s enjoy the whole big shipment unload of hundreds of big boxes. Also the pay is low because a 16 year old can do it. lifting heavy stuff can hurt your body and sometimes it can be dangerous with people always running around. No real advancement opportunities which I think can suck especially for people who really know the job extremely well because they have worked there 6 years or more. All the boxes you open say made in China or like India which is depressing because you will have images of sweat shop workers working 18 shifts and living off of seafood soup rations for something. At the same time its all sold to rich white people with more money then they know what to do with which I think is really sad. I'm sure someone like Michel Moore could do a documentary on it. But I bet is the same case with retailers such as H and M or Banana Republic.
its retail they don't pay you much and the benefits suck. That's life get used to it if you work retail. Also, part time is popular in this store if your an associate.
