Working at Terracon Consultants:

Many of the people in the Omaha office are hard-working, conscientious professionals however management's treatment of its employees overshadows the positives of this office. I left the company with good cause as was corroborated by a judge. My issue with the office manager was over my refusal to bill a client for bogus time spent on a project by an upper manager. The office manager then retaliated. Quote from the judge “The evidence is convincing that the office manager created an abusive working environment at times depending on how circumstances struck him. The claimant as well as other employees had experienced his tirades. The Tribunal is convinced that the severity of the incident on September 22, 2010, and the perception of retaliation present in the November 1, 2010 reasonably left the claimant with a concern for her continued employment. This was not the first time the claimant had made a complaint against the office manager. His inappropriate conduct was on-going. The conclusion that the Tribunal draws is that the office manager's behavior was threatening, emotionally abusive and created a hostile work environment with the guidelines of the Gavin.”

Terracon Consultants Salary and Benefits:

Starting salary was approximately $65k. Over 5 years, my salary was approximately $68k. Terracon is know for paying low salaries and the office manager gets angry when people try to negotiate a higher wage. He has disdain for Gen Xers and Millennials. (I am a baby boomer.) The Omaha office is run in a dictatorial style. Bonuses, reimbursements are standard or below.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

hierarchical, unprofessional

Working at Terracon Consultants:

The office had a lot of good people, but management's treatment of employees is so horrible that most of their good people have left the company. My experience with other offices was good. The problems at the Omaha office are a direct result of management. The office manager is no more than a common bully who frequently unleashes his anger on hard-working, conscientious employees. Upper management does nothing because they are afraid of him. Corporate is letting management run the office in the ground. I see a lawsuit in their future.

Terracon Consultants Salary and Benefits:

Salary was low to average, vacation time average. Only upper management gets good bonuses. The quality of the people, other than upper management, was the only perk.

Working at Terracon Consultants:

My experience at the Terracon Omaha office was terrible. The office manager rules with an iron fist and unfortunately the Environmental Department Manager is weak and won't stand up for his employees. Approximately 11 people have left within the past year and more are planning their departures. The problems at the Omaha office have been brought to the attention of the Corporate office, but they so far have been unable or unwilling to make the necessary changes to improve the situation. It is unfortunate for those still there.

Terracon Consultants Salary and Benefits:

Terracon has a long history of paying people low wages. Vacation time is typical of similar firms. Terracon lures people in with talk of big bonuses, but the average person gets in the hundreds.
