Working at Volacci :

Volacci may seem great at first, a young company with a young CEO who is energetic and passionate about his company. However, a lot of this is sugar coating from an overly optimistic, unrealsistic and cautious management. This company has drastically changed over the past year and has remained stagnant in growth. This company has no culture whatsoever. An uninspiring, cookie-cutter list of ideals is used as the 'mission vision & culture' of the company, aimed at making employees (who need to read the list every day) happy process-driven employees. However no culture is made from a simple list of basic values. The whole company is run on old fashioned ideals from business books. Well suited for fast food restuarant employees (learn one process, and repeat it forever), but not for professionals in an ever-changing field. Employees are unhappy and it shows in extreme turnover (7-8 full time employees left during 2010, there are 5-10 employees at the company at a time). Employees are under-paid, overworked and underappreciated. You would never know this though, as management does a great job of making everything look amazing to the outside world. A bonus system is set up, not to reward employees for overachievement, but to give the employer a chance to pay less of a salary.

This company has no career path. You are expected to do the work you were hired to do and extra duties if needed. There is no promotion or raise path (and if it were a raise, it'd be a minimal raise on your potential bonus, not your salary). As long as the boss makes enough money to maintain his lifestyle, then 'all is well'. However, overachievement is not appreciated or rewarded, it's expected. There's only so far this goes before becoming demoralizing. The company does not care for the employees.

I would not recommend this place to anyone looking to build a career. You will end up demoralized and being taken advantage of.

Volacci Salary and Benefits:

32k base salary, $500/month in bonus (minus taxes), $1500/quarter in quarterly bonuses (which you will NEVER get), and $2000 annual bonus ( get 70-80%). Possible $100 increase in monthly bonus after 1st year. 2 weeks paid vacation. Free lunch (deli meat and sandwich bread, nothing catered).
