As a teller you are expected to handle money, give great customer service, and sell sell sell. I wanted to get out of retail but then I found out that being a teller involves sooo much sales pressure. Every morning the managers get on a conference call and talk to everyone about our daily sales goals, which is usually 2 checking accounts, and 4 referrals for other products. And you have to pressure people to open credit cards too. But originally there was stools, so we would just sit around because it was so slow. As a teller to everyone goes different speeds when helping customers, so if you're fast, you'll probably help sooo many customers. Its not that bad though.

I made 11.75 an hour, but they don't really give you raises unless you get promoted by selling products. They really didn't care that I had the best customer service surveys. an they would give you bonuses every three months if you meet your sells goals, but it would be like less than $100.

The culture is very sales and performance driven. If you consistently perform well you will be promoted. The downside is that Wells Fargo is bureaucratic with many layers of management. These lead to a culture that frowns on “thinking outside the box”. The company places great importance on hiring women and minorities.
Low 70’s. Small bonus based on performance.
