COMMENTS

I have not worked there but have known enough people working for the company (including my dad) to be compelled to write this review. Yamato is horrible company to work for. Most of the employees are (or used to be) immigrants. Many of them have limited English and knowledge of their rights. Employer often demonstrates complete disregard for reasonable needs of the employees. Management creates atmosphere where employees work in constant fear of being fired for any reason. My dad was given completely inappropriate amount of work to do (working for 3-4 full-time positions). He tried his best to conscientiously fulfill what was asked of him. He worked many demanding jobs throughout his life and understands when employer requests become nonsensical. In the end, he was laid off for "slow" work. When others tried to fill his position they couldn't keep up. My dad was one of the best and hardest working employees at the company. His termination had nothing to do with performance but with his work experience: he lacked 3 months until 10 years at the company. The company routinely lays off employees who approach 10 years of work there. I feel sorry for people who work there and for those who don't know better and apply. Those who value their human dignity and expect to be treated as human beings might skip this company and look elsewhere for employment.
